Then if ur already a student of the adult school you have 1st dibs. So those 30 seats turn into 15. Yeah my 88% just wasnt good enuff. My weakness was math.

So I decided to do the private school/ trade school route. Yeah they are huuuugely expensive but after a few grants and aide I was left with a doable monthly balance with no interest. After Im finished w/ school the payback of the loans kick in after 6 months and again the payments are totally doable and I have 10 years to pay em off and no penalties for paying em off early.
They also are constantly posting scholarships to apply for as well. If you do try the route Im doing you definitely have to check out all the schools. Do your research, obviously find out the pass rates, the accreditation status, find out the instructors backgrounds degrees length of time teaching in that school ect.
Find out the grade you need to maintain to remain in the school (some of them require a B and will drop you the 1st time you get a C which is how they maintain a High NClex pass rate) Find out how many seats are available per class,(right now my class holds 75 students and they booked 90 students so alot of ppl are getting cut in 6 weeks if they dont drop)lets see what else. Hmmm I think I pretty much covered everything. Oh yeah for those of you that want to go to RN always check to see if the school has a bridge program. I think thats it. What school did I decide on after all the research? ACC-OC & Im totally satisfied with my decision.
I hope this info helps you peace out! Hi Do you mind if I ask how much it ended up being with the financial aide? Also what are the monthly payments looking like? I am trying to get an idea of what to expect.I also want to do the bridge to RN program! Male in Upland, California said: QUOTE who=Did your friend have a job while attending Cal State LA? A JOB WHILE IN THE RN PROGRAM?????? OUT OF YOUR MIND! Some people do work while in the RN program. I for one work full time while in the LVN program, yes, I look like zombie like a lot of other students that take down a full time job as well as being in a nursing program but it's possible. Not everyone has someone taking care of them just because they are in school. Christopher L in Norwalk, California said: I tried the adult schools and the rop programs and I didnt make the cut. Amen to that Christopher, so many people come in here talking about how ROP and adult schools are so much cheaper, blah blah but they don't realize how hard it is to get in. So yeah that's why people like you and I attend vocational schools especially if those work like myself. I'll be done later this year and i'm glad as oppose to other people who are still trying to get into the adult schools. I am trying to get an idea of what to expect.I also want to do the bridge to RN program! Hi Julie, My payments after my financial aide and grants comes out to around $240 bucks a month interest free for 12 months while im enrolled in the school but thats just my package every ones financial aid package will differ due to ur circumstances like how much u made last year and if ur on any kind of assistance programs (which a lot of people are due to the lack of jobs these days). During the 2nd sememster when my 2nd acedemic year loan kicks in theres an overpay of like 600 bucks that I can use for whatever or apply it to that balamce that im paying 240 a month on. I think my total out of pocket expense turned out to be close to 3000 minus that 600 refund that I intend on applying to my balance. But remember thats just my financial aid package, again let me stress that everybodys package varies.
I got in at 31 grand. I really do enjoy the program. Its tuff but im hanging in there with a strong 90.5% I really hope that helps you out. THANK YOU:-) Los Angeles unified school has an LVN program. It's one year and has a 99% pass rate on the NCLEX. I graduated in 2006 and passed my NCLEX on the first try. I paid about $2500.00 for the program, best thing I ever did. Go to LAUSD.org. Julie in Sacramento, California said: The only downfall with ROP programs is that a lot of them require you to become a first, then become an LVN. Has anyone heard of Unitek in Sacramento CA?
I am going to talk to an addmissions rep today. I am already expecting it to be expensive, but for me, I am looking for something fast where I won't have to be unemployed very long since school is. Not sure how I would survive financially. Hi Julie, I have been in with Unitek in sacramento. I was kind of wondering how this school is also.
It is full time, yet i work full time. So I'm wondering how i'd manage if i quit my job to go to school.
So i'm in the same boat as yoU! The LVN program is 11 months and according to the rep that emailed me it's $33k for the program. VERY expensive! If you hear of any other schools.let me know. Keep in touch! Dee3280 in Sacramento, California said: Hi Julie, I have been in with Unitek in sacramento.

Keep in touch! I am actually going to meet with Unitek on Monday! They also told me on the phone it was about 33K.so I am hoping to save up some money and go. Sounds like you have to start paying the loan back right away so its an extra expense along with not working. I might try and work 1-2 days a week if possible but I probably won't be ready to start until the fall at least.
The other school in Sacramento is Kaplan, they just started LVN in 2009 and its about 29K.they don't have any pass rate info yet though so I am somewhat weary. I meet with them on Feb 8th. Its tough these days, nothing is easy these days.good luck! THANK YOU:-) YES! THERE ARE LVN SCHOOLS THAT YOU CAN ATTEND! A GREAT SCHOOL THAT IM GOING TO ATTEND IS CNEI IN CATHEDRAL.
IS 14 MONTHS AND IM RECEIVING AID YOU SHOULD LOOK INTO IT! ITS A GREAT SCHOOL!
I just did the Pre-VN course for downey and waiting to see if I get in. Prices have gone up since last year and cost $7000. They do have aid. It was about 600 applicants and they took the top 60 scores. The pre-VN course is 5 weeks and 30 are selected with 3 alternates.
It wasn't that hard. The english and math is easy, you just gotta brush up on your skills. Math level is pre algebra. They have another one coming up later this year for anyone interested. The lausd lvn program is a lot harder.
They take thousands of application and only 15 are selected. I made the cut but I still have to do the interview. Kymery in Corona, California said: That is awesome IF they do that. Wish I could remember where I saw that. I will try to find it. But with today's hireing freezes it is happening and I would hate for you to know be informed.so just check the thoroughly.k?
Yeah, Northwest is like Bryman, Concord etc. But it was my only option, great hours for school for me.so that was my decision maker. My gov loans came to $13,400 for after I graduate and another $3,700 at 0% that I have to pay while in school. So not too bad I guess.
The Pell grants went up for the 2nd half of school!! I am in the Inland Empire. I just finished my and looking for a Lvn Rop program to go into asap. Do you know of any???

I just got accepted for the class starting Sep 2010. I was wondering about the clinicals at UCLA. How many days a week is it and for how long? I am so excited about this program, but not looking forward to that long drive. Any other info about the program would be great! PLEASE let me know! THANK YOU:- HELLO, TRY HACIENDA LA PUENTE ADULT WILLOW CAMPUS THEY HAVE A GREAT SYSTEM WITH TUTORS AWSOME INSTRUCTORS, AND THEY'RE STATE ACCREDITED. THE PROGRAM COST'S APPROXIMATELY $5,000.00 AND THEY HAVE A AID DEPARTMENT THAT WILL WORK WITH YOU, AND THEY ALSO ARE ON THE FAFSA WEBSITE. Hi i applied at trinity.
Since i am low income and living wiht parents i filed my self as independent and was granted the maximum amount of cal grant which s 5 grand. The tuition is 23 thousand dollars but i took my prereqs at college which is cheap so they credited some of my classes. With the credited classes and grants overall the deduction was like 8 thousand something so im down to fifteen grand. Then i have to apply for a loan. Then next year ill reapply again for the fafsa grant cuz ill turn in my tax form again and since im not earning that much aid said ill be getting the maxmium amount. So over all ill pay 10 grand this lvn private school.
Its called trinity vocational center and its in gardena california or torrance jsut check it online. Call them and see how it goes.
This people are very helpful. I applied at maxine waters, downey and lynwood adult school but this schools rejected me after the interviews. I passed all the entrance exams though. I had no choice but to go to a private school. Im willing to move anywhere after i graduate.

They said i can pay my loans back after six months after i graduate and i can take the boards too even if i still have remaining balance. According to my friend the school is very helpful and they will make u feel relax and grading system lenient. It wont hurt if u call them now. I just finished my interview there and i am already registered. It took me 2 weeks to finish all the required tasks and applications.
I am so happy i did it though so ill just look forward to starting class and finishing it. Its only one year. I used to be in an RN school but unfortunately i failed so i had to transfer to another school. RN school works for some people but i am being brutally honest with you guys.
The 2 year commitment is not easy especially if your working. ITs a very hard program. In my opinion. If you guys want to play safe. Do lvn first then go to bridge program RN school cuz if ur an LVN you will start at 3rd semester right away.
My goal is to be an LVN save up then continue RN again. If you have what it takes to be a nurse go for it. NEWSTART4 in Beaumont, California said: I just registered with Crafton Hills to start the pre req for the RN progrsm.
However i NEED to get into this field sooner. I was in and am changing careers to nursing, Im a single mother with four kids that is unemployed. Is there ANY other FASTER options to becoming an LVN to RN in my area (BEAUMONT -INLAND EMPIRE) And whats the best way to get grants and scholarships to help pay for all this schooling? Thank you for any feedback!!
You did not state whether you are a LVN already, are you interested in LVN or RN? The only way you can do LVN to RN is if you are already an LVN.
Lamama in Dallas, Texas said: Thanks Again Tiana, I'm a bit nervous about the Sallie Mae Career Loans, that is NOT good!! I hope this is not the case or it will improve soon. And I am a working adult too with a little one, so I don't have time to waste, I know what you mean about some people have the 'leisure' to be in a forever taking pre-reqs and and a year or two later still not in the nursing program, that Can Not be me, I need a faster track. I know I haven't been on these boards in a long time and I am proud to say that I am now done with my LVN program, I am in the process of studying for my nclex exam Thank God.
I did have to go through the vocational school route which was pricey but it's an and I finished within 14months and was able to get in fast since I was able to pass all the entrance exams, background checks etc. I'm glad I went this route instead of trying to play around trying to get into the ROP classes, I would still probably been trying to get into all these different school but happy to say i'm done with my curriculum.
Happy holidays, hope you're in a program now. DenimBlue in U.S.A., District of Columbia said: Just curious.how many of you have graduated and are jobless?
I never quit my last job even while in the LVN program so i'm not jobless thank God. When I pass my nclex exam I will then start looking for work, most likely since a few of the people I went to school with got hired as LVN's but after working as CNAs for atleast 6months. If you do well in that then most likely the will hire you since they know you and your work. I'm, single and willing to travel so i'm not worried about finding a job. You got to keep your head up and stay positive. NEWSTART4 in Beaumont, California said: No i am not a LVN, and my didnt say anything about having to be LVN first.
I have been doing alot of research and am finding that its alot smarter to become LVN then bridge to RN. Do you know of any LVN programs in this area?
Thanks again for the info! I'm not sure who this counselor is but anyone will tell you that In order to do the LVN bridge to RN you would first have to be an LVN. Hence the term (LVN to RN), that means you are already an LVN. I believe you would have to have your LVN license and the necessary RN science preqs before applying to the LVN to RN bridge. I can't even do the LVN to RN right now myself because I need 3 more science classes plus I need to have taken my NCLEX exam.I just finished the program last week so i'lll be studying a couple of months before I take my NCLEX. So since you are not an LVN yet then these are your options: you can get into an LVN program to become an LVN or get into an RN program to become an RN.
If you are going the route then of course you'll need your pre reqs, if you're going the vocational school route then you don't need the pre reqs for LVN since the vocational school program incorporates the preqs into their curriculm but you will need them for LVN to RN. NOW about doing the lvn before the rn well that depends on you. I mean if you do your research they are more jobs out there for RN grads as oppose to LVN grads, but honestly, i'm not into this for the money. I come from a different field as you and would rather truly understand this field first before trying to get into the RN program. In other words I much rather be more familiar in the setting as an LVN for atleast a year then I'll feel more comfortable getting into the RN program and by then I'll have my pre reqs done. It's very important to know what you are doing as a nurse since you can easily lose your license and not to mention we have people lives at stake.

About a 99% pass rate. About 300 apply, 30 Pre-LVN (no fee), 15 chosen w/1 alternate. Clinicals @ Alhambra Hosp., Greater Elmonte, Santa Anita Conv. Hosp., pre-school. This program is a blessing & I thank Jesus Christ forever more, for it. I will be trying this too since the waiting list in community takes forever.
Im currently laid off right now receiving unemployment and was wondering if anyone could give me some information on grants / unemployment, etc if I were to sign up for a LVN program. I'm wanting to get into a full time LVN program, but Im wondering, do I have to pay monthly for the schooling? Im looking into NorthWest in Riverside right now. If my unemployment gets stopped because of the schooling / not looking for a job, do the grants give you money each month or no? Any advice would be appreciated. Happy holidays, hope you're in a program now You are very very smart! I tested into an ROP program, and I regret it! The states a LOT of infor mation that is not correct. Like, 'Used razors go in the trash can, NOT the sharps container!' , that is just a start. So many people went to the of the Adult School to complain about her, but nothing has been done!
This instructor even told these two women who were over 40 and starting the program, that they were to old to be getting their LVN. This school is crazy. I just want to get my diploma and get out of there. The program is VERY disorganized, and the instructors are VERY lazy.
I should have just taken a loan, and went elsewhere. Yasmin in Seattle, Washington said: Does anyone know any other adult school's in the sacramento area that offer the lvn program besides twin rivers and charles a jones.
Also i talked to one of the charles a jones reps she said i need to do the first than the preq bundle classes than apply for the Lvn does anyone know how long that will take I know she said the Cna is 5 weeks i believe????? I need some more options. Did anyone go through the Charles A jones program???/ i was look at charles a jones to but to get any info you have to do an orientation and then get a pass to go to the lvn orientation. They only accept 20 students! Yes its cheaper but not worth it. Its in the bad part of town lots of crime on that side.
I live in Indiana now, but went to nursing school in CA. Check the Occupational Centers in LA county for great deals on LVN/LPN level nursing courses.under $4000 for the whole program. I went to West Valley Occupation Center in 89-90 and I got a great. Everyone in my class passed the NCLEX the first time out. Everyone I've worked with has been surprised to find out that I'm an LPN and not an RN (most of them are RN).
My education was so much better than what is available here. The course is; 2 uniforms; and when I went you bought the educational material in 4 packets - 1 @ a time which is great for the budget.
